Doctors

Mary Kate Cameron, DVM graduated with honors from the Veterinary School at the University of California, Davis in 1982. She has been a small animal practitioner ever since. Before opening Cameron Veterinary Hospital in 1999 her employment as an associate veterinarian lasted nearly ten years. She is continually immersed in continuing education, and has been a member of the California Academy of Veterinary Medicine (the voluntary association recognizing excellence in CE) for many years. Her special interests include internal medicine and endocrinology, geriatrics, and unusual pets, such as rats, guinea pigs, ferrets, prairie dogs, hedgehogs. Her exceptional rapport with patients and her tireless willingness to explain disease entities and health issues to clients has won Dr. Cameron an extremely large and faithful clientele.

Kate graduated from Colorado State University in 1975 with a degree in Zoology and emphasis in counseling psychology and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Cameron and her family have deep roots in the Sunnyvale-Cupertino community.

Christine S. Liu, DVM graduated from Cornell University in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science (with high honors) and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1999.

Christine grew up in New York City, and for as long as she can remember, she has loved caring for animals. From adopting neighborhood strays to volunteering at the Staten Island Zoo, Christine always dreamed of being a veterinarian someday. Christine's passion for animals fostered a bright academic career in animal science, which included extensive research in reproductive hormones. During Vet School, Christine confirmed her desire to specialize in small animal medicine through her work with the Cornell Pet Loss Hotline and her externship with the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan.

After Vet School, Christine felt the west calling (and her husband), so she moved to the Bay Area, where she has been practicing small animal medicine ever since. Christine's areas of interest include endocrinology, dermatology, and feline/canine geriatric diseases. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Christine enjoys playing tennis, snorkeling, rock climbing, sewing and reading. On her days off, she is busy chasing after her toddler son. Christine and her family live in Sunnyvale with their cat (Sagwa) and fish (Shadrach).

Diane Ammon, DVM graduated from the Veterinary School at the University of California, Davis after earning her BS in zoology and MS in physiology.

Diane has worked in Northern CA doing small animal practice since her DVM in 1991.

She currently has 1 dog named Pebbles enjoys crocheting and quilting when she has time.

Relief Doctors

Luann is a graduate of Colorado State University and has been doing relief work in the bay area for the past 18 years. She is a native of Hawaii and when not practicing veterinary medicine enjoys swimming with the fishes.

Carla Johnson DVM graduated from Veterinary School at the University of California, Davis in 1997 and went on to do an internship at West LA Animal Hospital in surgery, medicine, and emergency/critical care.

She also has a BS in Biopsychology from UC Santa Barbara, and years of experience as a waitress and bartender. She dabbles in medical writing, watercolor and Yupo painting, dressage, Vinyasa yoga, and gardening.

A Los Altos native, Dr Janis E. Schmidt grew up caring for cattle and horses on her family’s ranch. She earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in zoology, as well as a psychology minor, from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Schmidt went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Veterinary School at the University of California, Davis. While in veterinary school, she won the John W. Kendrick Award for Clinical Proficiency in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery and the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association scholarship for students pursuing mixed animal medicine.

Dr. Schmidt is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and her professional interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and cytology.

“I love the feeling that I make a difference in people’s and their pets’ lives,” she says. “We can ease suffering and extend lives and improve the human-animal bond.”

When Dr. Schmidt isn’t practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys hiking, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, traveling, and reading. Dr Schmidt and her husband David have two rescue pugs: Daisy Mae and Emily.

Laurel enjoys walking with her dog, family and friends. She rides horses and has has three cats and one newly adopted rescue dog from Taiwan named Bear.

Mackenzie Froeberg graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Human Development. She is currently enrolled in the graduate program towards a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University
